So much has happened since I was last on here I dont even know where to begin...

First of all, I am now officially married. (Despite what Andy says lol) I went to sign my name on something yesterday and it was SO WEIRD!!! Especially cuz I'm in that awkward stage where my name isnt legally changed on everything but it is on somethings. I dunno... its all a big pain in the tookus if you ask me.

The wedding/reception was so much fun. The day we got married of course like a billion things went wrong but I didnt even care. The reception was absolutely beautiful! It was so nice cuz my mom & family did pretty much everything, so we just showed up and enjoyed the party =) Myla & Livvy were both in little dresses and Jodi bought Carson a tux... They were all SOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!! And it was funny, Carson got there before Myla and he was getting really impatient cuz she wasnt there yet. Then when she did show up he walked right up to her and kissed her on the cheek! She just gave him the look of death and tried to walk off. It was hilarious! I'm not gonna lie, I hated the little program thing cuz I hate being the center of attention. Especially our first dance... I wanted to die! But all in all it was lots of fun and it was so good to see lots of people that I hadnt seen in a real long time!

We went on our Honeymoon to Park City... It is freaking cold up there! I kicked his rear end at some board games... he better get used to losing cuz I always win. We also went on a sleigh ride/dinner and we went snowmobiling. We were supposed to go snowboarding but we didnt (my fault). We also went shopping in all of the cute little stores in PC... and the weird hippie ones that he likes and Connor gave us free ice cream from Java cow. Well technically I had lemon sorbet. Mmm... It was lots of fun and it was soooo nice not to have to wake up and go to work. I almost started crying when we had to come home.

On the way home from Park City I thought I'd be nice and call my family and see if they wanted me to stop in and check on the Nephi house... Not smart. My mom told me that during our vacation Kenyon was diagnosed with Sherman's disease. That's basically a genetic defect that causes his back muscles to disintegrate. It has no cure and really no treatment. Physical therapy will only slow it down. The doctor also perscribed him some real good pain meds and told him to only take him when the pain is real bad cuz they are highly addictive plus his body will get used to them and they wont work as well.

Welp, I gotta go. Jamie I promise to do better.

It's a Beautiful Day at Las Vegas Motor Speedway...

Have you ever had one of those days where time just seems to stand still? You know those days when you're sitting at your desk, just working away and you think to yourself, "Geeze it must be nearly lunchtime." That's when you look up and discover that its only 9:32am. You sadly go back to work and after awhile you think, "Wow I've gotten alot accomplished since I last checked the clock and it feels like HOURS have passed. I think I'll look at the clock again. It's got to be at least 10:30." So you once again glance up at that time telling machine and what do you see? Its frickin 9:37am. So you resume working and vow not to look at the clock for a real long time and you dont. You find millions of things to occupy your time; typing, reading, answering phones, making phone calls, you tube, wikipedia (Aka the most amazing wesite ever created. They have information on any topic you could ever even dream up.) and occasionally you even get in a ticket sell or two. After doing all of the above mention tasks (and more) you finally figure its safe to look at the clock again. So after a few minutes of you trying to build up your nerve, you fearlessly glance up and.......... Its 10:28. Welcome to today at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway...

Just Say No

So for anyone out there who is considering getting married and is about to start planning for your big day, I have some advice for you... Just say no. I'm not suggesting that you say no to your man's proposal. However, I am suggesting you say no to everything society calls a "traditional" wedding. Lets think about this for a minute...

Marriage, especially eternal marriage, is such a happy event in a couple's life... Why do we insist on ruining that small, simple joy by stressing our families, our pocketbooks, and ourselves out with wedding plans and unnecessary expenses?

Typically the most expensive item in a working girls wardrobe cost her, what? $100? I mean there are always those girly girls out there who insist on designer things. They simply HAVE to have them now (even though they can't afford them), so they buy them now instead of just waiting 3 months for them to go on sale. (I will NEVER understand those girls) But even those girls' most expensive items usually top out at about $500. Now answer me this... What is the average price of a decent, non-DI, wedding dress? Now I've done a little research on this, and I discovered that your average, mid-range wedding dress in the United States costs between $500-1000, and brides as a whole spent an average of $1,046... Now remind me... how many times are you gonna wear that sucker???

Then there's the always fun invitations. Now, I'm not even going to talk about the hours spent searching for decent priced invitations that look good, or the option of assembling them yourself to save a little dough. I choose to focus this paragraph on the guest list. I mean, your wedding day is supposed to be all about you and your significant other right? So can somebody please explain to me why your brother-in-law's second cousin twice removed who you've only met one time when you were 3 years old will feel as though you've ripped her heart out and trampled on it if she doesn't get one of those blessed invitations? As if she's going to come anyway... And it's not as if you only have to worry about making one list. There are several different guest lists you get to worry about and lucky you, each comes with its own special worries and concerns. For example, which of your wedding guests are you going to invite to your bridal shower? And if you're one of those lucky people who gets to be tortured with those super fun shower games and humilated with embarrassing presents and horrible hats made out of the wrapping paper on more than one occasion... is it bad manners to invite one person to both showers? What if you work with a friend? Obviously they're getting invited to both... Hopefully they dont feel like you're just trying to get as many gifts as you have room to receieve... Or is that what you're doing?

The final thing that I'd like to focus on today is the food that you're going to serve. The first choice that you need to make is whether you're having a meal or just dessert at the reception. Once that decision is made you would think the rest is just a piece of cake (literally). But I've got news for you friend, nothing in wedding planning is that simple. First off, it's probably not your brightest idea to serve anything with peanuts, shellfish or other foods that people are commonly allergic too. You're probably thinking to yourself, "Well shoot, that's easy! Besides, I dont even like shellfish." (And really who does?) But that's just the beginning... I mean, there's always the possibility that your sister-in-law is going to chose your exact menu for the family dinner at your neice's baby blessing a month before your wedding. Watch out for that one, it's been happening to unsuspecting brides around the country. Next, for the sake of this blog (or novel), let's just say the groom's father doesn't like cheese. Or maybe your grandma and her sisters don't like chocolate. Or maybe the groom's mother doesn't like ranch (and is allergic to roses). Ok this one is pretty easy to get around cuz there's like a million different kinds of salad dressing but seriously... What kind of people don't like cheese, chocolate, and ranch??? Its insanity I know! Good thing I just invented those completely random people and their dislikes for the sake of proving a point in my blog...

So the question remains, why do we do it? I mean the gifts are always a plus. But think about it, for all of the money you save on not buying a dress, invitaions, postage, food, a reception hall, entertainment, flowers, etc, chances are you could buy all of your gifts yourself AND pay for a hotel room for a few nights. So since I obviously don't have this pounding headache for the gifts.....

Maybe it's because every little girl dreams about her wedding day, and it's the one day in a woman's life when she can truely feel like a princess. Besides, don't we always want to share the happiest days of our lives surrounded by the ones we love?

Nah, I guess I'll just have to keep thinking on it and get back to ya. =)

The Life of Kami

So I am now a blogger... Weird! We'll see if I actually use this one cuz I definitely never even go near my myspace and facebook. I was going to try to blame this on Ashlee but in all honesty I just got bored at work today. I also convinced Heather to make one. Ironically, we picked the same backgroud! Aint that just the coolest?! =) Just a little update on my life for those of you who dont know...

I just started working full time at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I spend part of my week in tickets and part as an receptionist. In fact, I'm here at the receptionist desk right now. And I'm starving!!! I was running late (surprising I know) and skipped breakfast.

I'm also engaged, and I bought my dress last weekend! I love it... The wedding planning is slowly but surely coming along. Ha I may have had a small nervous breakdown last weekend regarding centerpieces, but I'm better now. We picked out our announcements like 2 months ago and we're finally going to order them on Saturday so I'm pretty excited about that. Now all we need on that front is a photographer. Also this weekend, we're gonna meet with Lilly Spencer and try to figure out our cake. And I just realized that really no one cares about all this crap...

On the school front, I'm failing the one class that I'm taking this semester because my teacher is a complete moron and I hate her... I know I sound like one of those people who tries to blame their problems on everyone else but really my teacher is a moron. She assigned me 3 partners for 1 project but she forgot to assign me to a discussion group. Then when she was grading the first part of an assignment she said that farm animals isn't an appropriate topic for 4 year olds around here because they dont have any experience with farm animals and 4 year olds cant understand things that they dont have personal experience with. Then when she was grading the other part of my assignment she said 4 year olds were far too advanced for such a simple topic... Did I mention that she's a moron?!?

Dennis and I are going to Alamo this weekend for the Homecoming football game and to take care of some Alamo portions of the wedding planning. I'm pretty excited for that little visit. Plus FES #2 is in the Homecoming Roalty so thats pretty awesome as well. For anyone out there who is wondering who FES #2 is... My parents have 2 foreign exchange students this year. Jason (aka FES #1) who is from Korea and Adrian (aka FES #2) who is from Germany. So now I have 4 brothers... as if 2 wasnt enough...

Welp, I'd say this was a pretty dang good first time blog. I'm going to end it now... If anyone is even still reading this novel and didn't zone out after the words "Just a little update".
